Scott Roeder, a Merriam Kansas resident, has been arrested in connection with the shooting death of a notorious abortionist in Kansas. Dr. George Tiller was shot at a Lutheran Church where he functioned as an usher. George Tiller had been previously wounded in another violent attack in 1993. His clinic had also been previously bombed, but Tiller, 67, had continued the controversial practice of providing late term abortions. Scott Roeder, 51, an evangelical Christian activist, is alleged to be the shooter. Roeder has been active in evangelical Christian activities, having involvement in staging live speaking events in the Kansas area for a group called the Prophecy Club some years ago. The Prophecy Club is a Christian speaker’s bureau of sorts, and is known for producing live events across the country with various prophecy oriented speakers. In more recent times, Roeder was active on the Internet with involvement in Christian Internet forums and newsgroups.
